{"id":2526,"date":"2013-12-12T17:22:22","date_gmt":"2013-12-12T22:22:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lobenthal.com\/blog\/?p=2526"},"modified":"2013-12-13T15:50:52","modified_gmt":"2013-12-13T20:50:52","slug":"great-guys-chances-york-city-ballet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lobenthal.com\/blog\/?p=2526","title":{"rendered":"IMPORTANT EVENING FOR NYCB&#8217;S RUSSELL JANZEN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reviewing Janzen at the School of American Ballet workshop in 2007, Alastair Macauley in The New York Times <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/06\/06\/arts\/dance\/06work.html?_r=0\">described<\/a> him as \u201calready a partner of rare accomplishment.\u201d\u00a0 Janzen\u2019s partnering skills will certainly get a workout on the evening of December 22, when he debuts as the Cavalier in New York City Ballet&#8217;s Nutcracker.<\/p>\n<p>Janzen is one of the very talented corps dancers who get to do major roles during NYCB\u2019s one-month-plus run.<\/p>\n<p>Without overworking anything, without being guilty of &#8220;working it\u201d at all,\u00a0 in the first movement corps of Episodes last fall, Janzen encapsulated the spirit of the ballet \u2013 the steep intervals between the floor and the heights.<\/p>\n<p>Janzen\u2019s also written a piece in the current Playbill about keeping Nutcracker performances fresh.<\/p>\n<p>His Sugar Plum is soloist Ashley Laracey, about whom Laura Jacobs was raving on this blog a little while ago.
