{"id":4536,"date":"2016-01-01T11:22:47","date_gmt":"2016-01-01T16:22:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lobenthal.com\/blog\/?p=4536"},"modified":"2016-01-01T11:24:32","modified_gmt":"2016-01-01T16:24:32","slug":"winter-bloom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lobenthal.com\/blog\/?p=4536","title":{"rendered":"WINTER BLOOM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No, I&#8217;m not talking about the pathetic sight of spring-blooming plants being lulled by the torrid December into putting out blossoms, thus pre-empting the actual spring bloom&#8211;that&#8217;s been written about by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/12\/25\/science\/touch-of-spring-in-december-on-east-coast-as-flowers-bloom-early.html?_r=0\">Nicholas St. Fleur<\/a> [some name!] in the Times.<\/p>\n<p>No, I&#8217;m talking about the cover of the Winter 2015-16 Ballet Review.\u00a0 Gilliam Murphy, decked out in rosy hues and silk rosettes, is shown as Aurora in American Ballet Theatre&#8217;s new Sleeping Beauty.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217; s a welcome sight&#8211;sort of like a conservatory giving us bloom out of season to augment a healthy ecosystem that produces the al fresco kind of flower on nature&#8217;s own schedule.<\/p>\n<p>The winter conservatory gives us its own, humanly-massaged kind of blossom&#8211;as does the balletic hothouse.
