THE SHEER GALL OF TOM PRICE

Who wraps his greed-contorted message of hatred for Americans, his determination to do as much harm as possible to the American people, within an ersatz invocation of Christian values.

It is time for the Democrats to unmask the pharisees.

SOUNDING THE ALARM ON MEDICAID

It looks like the GOP is postponing its phaseout of Medicare until later next year. And of course  we need an all-hands-on-deck effort to stop them.

But Medicaid is much more vulnerable, since not enough of the poor vote and since even the Democrats refuse to address, even allude to the fact that we’ve got what–48 million Americans living in poverty. . . even by the extremely stringent federal definition of what constitutes poverty.

And let’s be clear about one thing: when Paul Ryan and his henchmen begin their immoral, evil crusade to deny health care to as many Americans as possible, it might be nice to remind them of the service public hospitals and Medicaid provide our country.

Have any of the millionaires and billionaires who’ve got public health in their rifle sights ever been to a public hospital?  Doubtful.

My mother was a cytotechnologist at Bellevue/NYU from 1988 until she retired in 2004, and I know it well.

Does anyone in the Trump gang know or care, for example, that Bellevue is now treating double the number of patients it was before the rash of NYC hospital closings?  And WITHOUT any additional medical staff.

Perhaps if the Democrats talked more about the plight of the poor, more would start voting for them.

BOGUS BS

Trump’s “victory” tour–paid for us by those who, unlike Trump, do pay taxes–is another sideshow of distraction, attempting to overshadow the election irregularities and the Stein recount.

Why doesn’t he instead pay some attention to intelligence briefings?

THE HAIL MARY PLAY

At The Guardian, Rebecca Solnit describes the recount as a last-ditch effort to avert catastrophe.

“We are in a national emergency as an alarmingly incompetent and utterly amoral gang prepares to destroy the climate, human rights, the foreign policy positions the US has relied on for stability since the second world war, and more. You don’t have to love Clinton or Stein to see that this is a radical departure from where we have been.”

THE TRUMP AND THE CHUMP?

Now that Trump has appointed Tom Price to take Obamacare apart, is the crrent President still going to be holding Beloved Leader’s hand and explaining to him what the duties of the Presidency are?

THE TRUMP CAMP IS TERRIFIED

If it really believed it won fair and square, it would be urging on the recount.

Their coercive, bluffing, defensive language tells us something quite different.

WHAT TO DO?

Yesterday a friend and I talked about starting a messaging company–something that would, for example, help the Democrats finally talk clearly and confidently to the American people, would show them how to make a concerted and overarching attack on the Fascists who are now seizing control of our government.

The arts, too, are urgently in need of methodology by which to explain to America how necessary they are.

You can be sure, btw, that there’s a lot of quakin’ going on right now at the National Endowment for the Arts. Under Trump, the arts will be under attack as never before in our lifetimes.

COVERING UP FOR BANNON

Why does the “mainstream” “news” media continue to call him a populist?

THE NEW SAN FRANCISCO

Not having been there in two decades,  I just cannot accept what it has become —

A friend back from nine months there tells me that the relatively clement weather spurs huge outdoor encampments of the homeless —

People pay well upwards of $500 a month rent in order to inhabit part of a room.

And this is the result of takeover by the same Silicon Valley culture that so many of the Democrats have wanted to praise and to hold up as exemplary.

SAME OLD BLARNEY FROM THE DICTATOR

He is lacing the right-wing’s standard-issue blend of deflection and projection with his own pathological megalomania–claiming that his mega popular vote loss was due to voter fraud.

An effective exercise in distraction as the recounts begin.
