As I was mentioning earlier re: Martha Raddatz, there are a very small number of thoroughly predictable physical stances, facial expressions,and reportorial attitudes evinced by the journalist-simulators who populate our TV “news” programs.

What’s striking is that on Fox there’s even less. From the clothes to the body language, it’s all incredibly homogeneous and uniform. It’s like an assembly line has been created down there in the basement. Leave it to Fox to reach new depths of conformity.

It makes it very boring–on the very rare occasion that I watch a Fox segment–for me, in my by now almost reflexive parsing and analyzing choreography, movement, physical expression of all kinds.

Carlson is not a complete idiot.  He knows what Donald Trump is and what he represents. And yet this prevaricating fatuity of a news personality, dismisses Martin O’Malley’s tell-it-like-it-is characterization of Trump. “Fascist, that’s silly.”

That tells you what Tucker Carlson is. It is time to drop the euphemisms.

And now, Mr President, please tie it in to their assault on all the institutions that have made this country great.

His integrity turns out to be another long bill of good sold us by the “mainstream” media. Hiding in plain sight was an appalling record, detailed by Brett Arends at Market Watch. Comey’s collusion with Chaffetz to throw the election turns out to be completely in character with the man’s history.

Chaffetz obviously told Comey that he would suffer no damage from his treasonous behavior since Trump might then win, or at the least the GOP Congressional majorities would be preserved and any investigation would be squashed.

This is what Trump and equally vile people like Chaffetz would like this country to turn into: a tragic, grotesque travesty of a country founded on democratic principles.

Trump’s endless incitement to violence, the vicious, infantile tantrums launched by him and his fellow Republicans, of whom no one is more culpable than Chaffetz, must be explained for what they are and what they portend. We are experiencing one of the most perilous moments in the country’s existence.

This is what Trump will do to all federal institutions: hijack them, politicize them, employ them solely to benefit his personal ambitions.

When it comes to the all-important task of getting Trump elected.

What is going on now with the F.B.I. is a full-bore assault on American democracy, an outright, unabashed attempt to swing the election. It’s not just Comey–why is he still serving??–it seems to be much of the entire Bureau.
