There were things Walz did right right at the debate as well as mistakes that he made. He’d better understnd, however that negative attacks carry more weigh with the electorate than do nice-guy affirmations, and Vance is utterly without ethics, morals, or patriotism.

Keep hammering Vance on his contempt for women, his hatred of democracy, his open-arm embrace of Project 2025,  his consorting with fascist billionaires, his endless lies. . . 

CBS tried to throw the debate to Vance by doing no fact-checking; the one tiny bit of correction they offered Vance threw him back on his petulant, entitled, expensively-shod feet. It’s actually quite amazing that Walz did as well as he did given how thoroughly CBS rigged the debate for Vance.

But enough of the nice guy palaver, Gov. Walz. You probably are as much of a nice guy as we have in American politics, but it’s time to take off the gloves.

We know exactly what Elon Musk as Trump’s proposed “cost-cutter” will cut: any and every policy that benefits non-wealthy Americans, and any and all regulations that prevent Musk and his fascist brethren from running roughshod over this country’s working people.

Most likely scenario, if the worst-case scenario plays out and Trump is re-elected: the fascist billionaires funding and promoting Vance arrange for him to either quietly or loudly supplant Trump in the Oval Office.

Jamison Foser charts in his emailed newsletter the way that “Elites in academia, the news media, and the entertainment industry hand-picked him, trained him, promoted him, and handed him the most coveted platform in all of journalism. They made him a star before almost anybody had ever heard of his book. (Which by the way was trash.)” 

And which he hardly seems even to have written on his own.

As a talent, a writer, a thinker, a politician Vance is less than undistinguished–as a ruthless totalitarian fanatic, and the tool of fascist obligarchs, he is a menace to society.

Vance mastered the sine qua non for advancement in our society: he is adept at sucking up to power.

The Planning Commission, a municipal body made up of real estate professionals whose function is to rubber stamp an ever-wider and more destructive real-estate development, has, of course, given a thumbs up to Mayor Adams’ the moon’s-the-limit development debauch titled “City of Yes.” Integral to the shceme is a scaling-back of the ability of NYC residents to participate in any type of public review of the monstrous new building projects that will now be unleashed.

Via its refusal to fact check in real time. And Vance is a pathological liar.

Remember that CBS, together with CNN, Fox Propaganda, and The New York Times, worked themselves silly to get Trump-Pence elected in 2016.

Said mergers are disastrous, of course, for the media landscape and for the American people. And the corporate media’s 24/7 coverage of Trump is, as Obeidealla notes, only going to expedite their demise, as people’s disgust causes them to turn away and tune in to independent and non-traditional media. Nor do the greed-besotted moguls seem to have any comprehension of how savagely Trump’s GOP would treat any news venue that acknowledges the existence of facts.
