Brett Kavanaugh is going to go after not only abortion but contraception, and Sen. Sasse is ready to spin and condescend and tut-tut every way he can to make that happen.

Isn’t it rare for the GOP when pushing through an extreme right-wing, corruptly proposed judicial nominee not to include a childhood animal emblem in the manufactured narrative of personal cuteabilitiy?

The GOP should call off the hearings.

Judicial activist and political operative (and perjurer) Brett Kavanaugh has been so unmasked that there is no further point in keeping the charade going.

It’s all in the documents, and finally the Dems are fighting fire with fire.

Free speech and the right to protest really bug him, as he just told the Daily Caller. And let’s not forget that behind Ben Sasse’s fake Boy Scout act, Sen. Sasse is right on board with that, too.  He considers free speech “hysteria.” The GOP’s contempt for democracy is stunning. And it was written all over Brett Kavanaugh’s face when Fred Guttenberg dared to rise above his station and introduce himself.

Somebody (with exquisite taste) paid to bus in this production of Haydn’s 1798 oratorio “staged” by Carlus Padrissa, of the Barcelona-based experimental theater group La Fura dels Baus, and performed at Rose Theater by the the period-instrument Insula Orchestra from France, conducted by its founding director, Laurence Equilbey, and the Accentus choir. Somebody with less exquisite taste wrote the Mostly Mozart teaser, promising “A relentless stream of imagery, text, and stage pageantry touching on everything from philosophy and physics to DNA research and refugees, an “immersive theatrical experience, and an “astonishing, maximalist production that explodes all notions of who we are and where we came from.” And yet it was all true. The crowning moment came when the Oratorio celebrated the crowning moment of creation itself — the creation of man in God’s own image — and the men so created were the refugees, a reminder of their nobility and ours. Musically crystalline chorus and orchestra supported the drama, sometimes reading from ipads, moving props around, and pouring out perfect little period tones. Of the three great soloists, lyric baritone Thomas Tatzl was brooding and amused in equal measures, while pouring out seamless sound. Now claims that Capitol police “intervened” and wouldn’t let Kavanaugh, who is apparently not a full-actualized adult, from shaking Fred Guttenberg’s hand–OR SAYING A SINGLE WORD TO THE GRIEVING FATHER?

“Blocking the criminal probes into the Republican president, however, is an immediate, urgent need. It cannot wait. The White House defenses are unraveling; federal prosecutors have now gained the cooperation of multiple onetime members of Trump’s inner circle and the president stands himself accused by co-conspirators of federal crimes. According to worried Republican bystanders, the probe into the Trump campaign’s interactions with agents of the Russian government is allegedly very, very close to completion.

“And there is no remaining way to block these multiple investigations other than changing the law of the land to grant Trump and his Republican allies immunity—which is, precisely, Brett Kavanaugh’s public legal opinion. Any presidential effort to shutter the investigations against him can only happen if Kavanaugh is on the court to support it.”

So what Ben Sasse occasionally registers a faint whiff of protest against Trump?

Sen. Sasse is a hard-line reactionary.  And thoroughly disingenuous.

When he’s not making pee jokes with Neil Gorsuch, he’s brushing off the reality of what Kavanaugh’s future rulings will accomplish–realities that today’s protesters refused to let fly under the radar.

Doesn’t want to know from the victims of gun violence, since he’s a bought-and-paid-for arm of the  NRA.

Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was gunned down at Parkland tweets:

“Just walked up to Judge Kavanaugh as morning session ended. Put out my hand to introduce myself as Jaime Guttenberg’s dad. He pulled his hand back, turned his back to me and walked away. I guess he did not want to deal with the reality of gun violence.”

He turned and walked away. It’s on tape. It’s an outrage. This man is not fit.

Any Senator up for re-election who confirms Kavanaugh should have that heinous vote hung around his/or neck.
