HOW THE DEMOCRATS WIN BACK THE SENATE

By naming names, confronting every GOP senator up for reelection, as the Democrats have refused to do for decades, with their voting records:

a. every vote for a subversive, spoiler cabinet secretary engaged in destroying the agency with which he or she is entrusted, thereby undermining the health and welfare of Americans.

b. every vote to cut taxes for the rich, demolish our health care system, cripple Medicare and Medicaid, steal a Supreme Court seat and install a corporations-first, individual-rights be-damned justice.

etc., etc.

WHY CAN’T TRUMP KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT?

That grotesquely distended blowfish orifice is part of his intimidation routine.

HYPOCRITE BEN SASSE

So what he stood up for the First Amendment–is that how low the bar for political courage is among Republicans?

Sen. Sasse will inevitably go right along with Trump and the GOP’s cataclysmic tax cuts for the rich, tax raises on the middle class, and evisceration of Medicare and Medicaid.

As Paul Krugman writes in the Times: “The Trump administration and its allies are lying about every aspect of their tax plan. . . . everyone who goes along with this plan, or even remains silent in the face of the campaign of mass dissimulation, is complicit — is in effect an accomplice to the most dishonest political selling job in American history.”

MICRO BUT NO MACRO

An important piece by Robert Freeman at Common Drams, questioning Ken Burns’s failure to provide context or draw cautionary criteria from the Vietnam disaster that would enable Americans to evaluate the way our government continues to lead us into one new Vietnam after another.

SMOKE AND MIRRORS FROM TRUMP

who says he doesn’t want money going to insurance companies, but instead to poor people.

Does that mean he’s endorsing Single Payer?

His endorsement of junk insurance last week is a windfall for  insurance companies, while Trump Care itself orchestrates an even greater deregulation  and profit return for the insurance industry.

PENCE IS POINT MAN FOR THE BILLIONAIRES

and their overthrow of U.S. democracy.

President Mike Pence? Perhaps we’d better perish that thought.

In The New Yorker, Jane Mayer describes “The Danger of President Pence.”

SANDERS IS NOW THE LEADER OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

The  Obamas come to heel when the GOP cracks the whip, while Biden spouts drivel about the patriotism of the rich and positions himself as the anti-populist.

Bernie Sanders doesn’t.

In the Guardian, he writes:

“Today, we have a corrupt campaign finance system that enables multi-billionaires, along with some of the most powerful CEOs in America, to contribute many hundreds of millions of dollars to elect Republican candidates to represent their views.  As a result, the top one percent has been able to rig the political system to favor them at the expense of virtually everyone else.  . . When David Koch ran for vice-president under the Libertarian party in 1980, he advocated not just to cut Medicare and Medicaid, he wanted to abolish these programs. He didn’t just want to cut taxes for the wealthy he wanted to eliminate all forms of taxation.”

SOME MONSTER YOU’VE GOT THERE

“The Republican Party is Dr. Frankenstein, and Donald Trump is its monster,” Ian Reifowitz writes at Daily Kos.com.

“By opposing in a knee-jerk fashion everything Barack Obama proposed and by nurturing white grievance and white identity politics—the GOP created Trump, they chose him as their nominee, they rallied around him, and they made him their champion. Frankenstein’s monster, however, could only terrorize one village at a time. Trumpenstein threatens us all.”

BIDEN & THE OBAMAS MIGHT ALSO ADD

“We’d also like to know where was the outrage from the Republican leadership when Roger Ailes’s and Bill O’Reilly’s perpetual sexual harassment became known?

“Why was it that President Trump defended both Ailes and O’Reilly?”

“We have too much respect for this country and the institution of the Presidency not to believe that the Chief Executive’s actions are more significant and more consequential than what private citizens do. So we continue to ask where has the GOP been when it comes to criticizing President Trump’s repeated sexual abuse of women?”

BANNON, LIKE TRUMP

embodies a complete inversion of morality, a nihilistic reversion to atavistic savagery, and a full-bore attack on the American people.

Bannon tells the disturbed attendees of the “Value Voters Summit” that Trump is blowing up our health care system–and they cheer.

And who told Trump to blow it all up? Bannon, of course.

Bannon is the puppet and accomplice of the billionaire Mercers, and yet he dares to invoke the power of the grass roots.

How long will the “mainstream” “news” media continue to label Bannon a populist?
