WAR PROFITEER ERIK PRINCE

is the latest criminal goon to be endorsed for Congress by Bannon and the Mercers.

Heather Digby Parton at Salon contemplates the line-up, with nary a genuine populist sentiment or sympathy among them.

She notes Bannon’s plot “to stoke division within the party and replace many Republican incumbents with people more likely to advance his apocalyptic vision of the future.”

TRUMP & PENCE USE FLAG AS A FIG LEAF

It is they who are disrespecting the flag every day of their lives, professing loyalty to a piece of cloth while destroying every constitutional ideal and protection, every civil right ever symbolized by that flag, turning the United States into a pariah and a laughing stock, endangering national security, sabotaging all institutions designed to support and protect this country and its citizens.

PRUITT WANTS TO WIPE OUT HUMANITY

D’Artagnan at Daily Kos responds to the Environmental Degradation Agency’s intent to repeal Obama’s Clear Air Act, describing the way that Trump’s administration “has set its sights on destroying the future of the country and condemning the entire planet to the ravages of climate change out of little more than sheer spite and the imperative to satisfy the demands of the Republican Party’s largest donors.”

FAMILY LORE

The definitive definition, from my father’s new autobiography:

“If somebody who was there at the time and, more important, was actually a participant in an event that involved or significantly affected you, and if you were absent, or even if present were for some reason not cognizant at the event, and if that participant-observer later repeatedly told yoThe u in detail what had transpired there, and if your narrator is now deceased and her recollection of the event is preserved only in the memories of those like you with whom she obsessively shared it, then that narrative definitely becomes your credible family lore.”

REMEMBER THAT TRUMP RAN TO THE LEFT OF HILLARY

Thomas Frank writes in The Guardian: “It sometimes seems like  the history of the populist right – with its calls to ‘organize discontent’ and its endless war against ‘the establishment’ and the ‘elites’ – is nothing but a history of reformatting left-wing ideas to fit the needs of the billionaire class.”

Funded by the billionaire Libertarian Fascists Robert and Rebekah Mercer, Steve Bannon purports to represent the working class!!

This point must be made repeatedly by genuine populists like Sherrod Brown, who are now being targeted by the unholy Bannon-Mercer alliance.

TRUMP’S END GAME

He’ll launch wars against Iran and North Korea to shied himself from RussiaGate.

The results will be catastrophic.

And if the Dems do not mobilize effectively against him, they are finished.

IS TRUMP HIGH?

In Puerto Rico he seemed to be suffering nearly a full-scale psychic break.

Is he on drugs?

and/or is his toxic megalomania now exacerbated by dementia?

LOVE GODDESS RULES ALL

At the beginning of act two of Tristan und Isolde, Isolde’s handmaiden Brangaene indeed now wrings her hands with regret that she’d substituted love potion for death potion. Isolde silences her in some of Wagner’s most sublime music, insisting that it wasn’t her doing; rather it was the omnipotent design of the Love Goddess who rules all. It was she calling the shots.

Isn’t Balanchine saying the same thing at the end of Rubies? When the lead couple kneel before the soloist woman whose role is commonly called “pin-up.” Inspired by Josephine Baker’s revue act, as Don Daniels noted in Ballet Review some time ago, she’s distinctly allied with earthiness and fertility.

In the final tableau, she towers above and behind the principal couple in a majestic stance (more inspired, at the 1967 premiere, by classical sculpture than it usually looks today). And they seem to pay homage to her with a port de bras.
