BIDEN LEAVES OUT SOMETHING

In The Atlantic, the ex-VP asks how we could have ignored as potent ground for Trump  “the hopelessness and despair that has grown up in the hollowed-out cities and towns of Ohio and Michigan and Pennsylvania and the long-forgotten rural stretches of West Virginia and Kentucky?”

What he does not say, however, is that the utter neglect of these constituencies by Biden and the president he served fanned the toxic flames that fueled the Trump conflagration.

THE OLD ACT HAS GROWN TIRED

Trump’s Fascist rally in Phoenix was under attended and the audience underwhelmed.

Perhaps it’s time to add some flying monkeys  to the bill.

Or why not hire a descendant of Heinrich Hoffman to orchestrate the events?

TRAITOROUS GOP REP. DeSANTIS

Slips an amendment to cripple Mueller’s investigation into the House spending package.

Thereby, puts partisan interests above national interests.

Why don’t Democrats  call out the current GOP for what it is?

HOW THE “MAINSTREAM” MEDIA GOT TRUMP ELECTED

At BillMoyers.com, Erik Alterman flags a study from the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and the MIT Center for Civic Media, that demonstrates the way that “mainstream” outlets followed the lead of the insane right-wing media when covering the 2016 presidential campaign.

NO MAN’S A GENIUS TO HIS FIRST WIFE

Tamara Geva, who married Balanchine in Russia when they were both teenagers, said to me in 1993: “Well, I never thought of him as a genius. I thought he was very good. But maybe I don’t know what a genius is. Well, don’t forget, that Van Gogh only sold one picture for forty francs in his whole lifetime.”

HAVE YOU NOTICED?

The one constant in Bannon’s manic, disordered rhetoric is his perpetual announcement that he is going to wage war on someone/something.

Both he and his Breitbart, citadel of fake news, need to be ridiculed, excoriated, and exposed by the Democrats every single day.

Bannon’s blood-soaked verbiage–Breitbart is his “killing machine,” “a weapon”–is key to his genocidal dementia. He is no populist; he is a nihilist.

Equally insane are the Mercers, his benefactors, who now plan to ratchet up the rhetoric, implement a world-wide expansion of Breitbart, thus making ridicule and dismissal even easier.

The Mercers are attempting to overthrow democracy in this country, and run it themselves or through puppets like Mike Pence, as Nancy Jones reveals on Daily Kos.

Rachel Maddow last night featured an interview with Jane Mayer, who exposed the Mercers in The New Yorker.

So Bannon, Breitbart, and the Mercers are a pinata for the Dems, if, and this is a big one, they can rouse themselves out of their habitual inertia and distraction.

They need finally to go head-on with the right-wing propaganda media.

BULLSHIT FROM THE LITTLE COLONEL

Senator McConnell is just so, so ardent a champion of civil rights.

And that’s why he cheered John Roberts’ gutting of the Voting Rights Act.

Joan McCarter at Daily Kos doesn’t buy the bullshit.

“What do you say today, Leader McConnell, a year after telling us the nation has moved on? And, as a true champion of civil rights, what are you going to do about it? Continue to send out your surrogates to talk about your private fury? Continue to push Trump’s agenda? Or do the job our Constitution—and the conscience you pretend to have—demands of you?”
