Interest declared, I recommended Patricia Wilde for the Honors via one of those write-in forms on line.
Our country’s culture is being further degraded by a Kennedy Center Honors list that might have been drawn up by a corporate media conglomerate.
When Philip Glass is as classical as you’re willing to go–give me a break.
The Honors jury is exerting no cultural leadership at all. They need to be dismissed.
And the Kennedy Center administration should not continue to enable this kind of dereliction of duty and responsibility by the jurors.
I’d like to know how many music publicists the jury has been in contact with?
The irony, too is that KC programs a lot of dance all year, which is one reason I’m surprised that KC brass would accept this crap.
And it’s not like, when it comes to popular entertainment, KC Honors isn’t sensitive to what’s being programmed at the KC–c.f. Hamilton, for which the Honors group has gone so far as to create a special new category in order to stroke itself.
Indeed, one might ask: is KC Honors now functioning as a promotional arm of the Center’s popular-entertainment programming?
