MEDIOCRE LUXURY

As corporations take over Manhattan culture, the rich can no longer find the type of uniquely crafted luxury retail environment that stores like Henri Bendel used to provide.

Ginia Bellafonte writes in the Times:

“The city that has put so much effort into courting the wealthiest people on earth — trashing soul, artistry, vibrant chaos and originality in the process — now offers them less in the way of a certain kind of luxury experience.”
