VENERABLE WISDOM PARTNERS W/PHYSICAL APTITUDE

We saw the essence of art last Monday in the studios of New York City Ballet at the Rose Building.

For the Balanchine Foundation, Robert Barnett and Barbara Walczak, who danced Symphony in C Third Movement at NYCB during the 1950s, now rehearsed it with NYCB’s Sara Villwock and Spartak Hoxha.

Specific and illuminating information was imparted to the two dancers, who have never danced these roles at NYCB, but I hope they do.

There were many small differences noted between the old and the current choreography.

Ditto with Serenade, with Barnett rehearsed later in the day with NYCB’s Megan Le Crone, Lauren Lovett, Indiana Woodward, Jared Angle, and Aaron Sanz.

Ex-NYCB Barbara Millberg and Janice Cohen also attended and contributed memories.
