Last spring I was reading Sterne’s “A Sentimental Journey” and “Radical By Design,” Bettina Berch’s biography of Elizabeth Hawes. And just at that time I suddenly and unexpectedly had an entirely new and more interesting idea about how to do a book I’ve been thinking about for a long time.
