Bernie of course has been outspoken in his condemnation, but I’d like to now hear from other Democratic Jewish lawmakers–Sen. Schatz and my very own Sen. Schumer among them. And from non-Jewish lawmakers as well, it goes without saying.
Being Jewish on my father’s side and Protestant on my mother’s has given me a singular perspective, I must say. And I’m grateful.
The greatest gift we can give Israel at the moment is to save her from her government’s own right-wing extremism. Repression and militarism by the Israeli government does not benefit Israel–just the opposite. And every provocative gesture that neo-Nazi Donald Trump performed to solicit Jewish support was actually a set back for Israel. Needless to say, Israel’s actions are entirely in sync with Trump’s unconstitutional war on the media.
