As I wrote in the West View News last year, local NYC community boards must be empowered so that they can repel the upzoning blitz that is pulverizing the city and REDUCING access to truly affordable housing. The developers, the developers’ tools on the NYC Council, and City Hall are conspiring to steal the city from us.
Now NYS Assemblywoman Deborah Glick in her Neighborhood Update is informing us that proposals are being bruited to cut the community boards out of the conversation altogether, “a wholly undemocratic idea that harkens back to a time of alderman and a spoils system rife with corruption and bribery.”
A city run by developers is a city headed for extinction. NYC enjoys that rare privilege.
