Yes, America has for most of its history harbored an excessive, foolish, credulity where great wealth is concerned, but as a friend reminded me recently, when we were young, business majors were considered dessicated nerds who people didn’t want to date. Then Reagan ushered in a glamorization of Wall Street and business, in which moral considerations and patriotism itself became disposable. That has led to today’s end game, where our society’s future is turned over to greed-besotted sociopaths.
