WHAT DE SANTIS IS UP TO

Director John Hirsch won the Outer Critics Circle Award in 1968 directing Diana in Shaw’s St. Joan at Lincoln Center. In a 1984 interview, Hirsch, a survivor of the Nazis’ and the Communists’ occupation of Hungary, said in 1984: “Barbaric societies. . .try to eradicate ethe past and consequently have no future.”
