to justify more assaults on landmark and neighborhood preservation.
Titled in Orwellian fashion the “Faith-Based Affordable Housing Act” would in fact “nullify all future landmark designations to allow oversized developments on any religious site,”Village Preservation warns us. It is in fact a piñata of goodies for the developers; it would “override local zoning regulations to allow out-of-scale buildings and towers on residential side streets and other low-scale areas. The bill’s unclear language even threatens current landmark designations.”
One of the bill’s co-sponsors is my state senator, Brad Hoylman-Sigal. Shame on him. He seems to have completely abandoned the cause of neighborhood and landmkar preservation. I won’t be voting for him again.
