WHY THE NEW YORK TIMES IS SO WILLING TO DEFILE ITS JOURNALISTIC STANDARDS

Dan Froomkin at Press Watch points out that the Times’ hit piece on Mamdani is just more of the same. The news room constantly skews stories right. It is “constantly under pressure from its leaders”–news editor Joe Kahn and publisher A.G. Sulzburger– “to prove that it is not taking sides in politics — or  democracy, for that matter. And because printing the truth is seen as punching right, that requires expending a lot of effort to punch left. Punching left becomes the holy grail.”

The Times is seriously compromised. They helped get G.W. Bush elected and then helped perpetuate Bush/Cheney’s lies about Iraq. They helped get Trump elected twice. Their pro-developer skew on NYC land-use issues is egregious; their attacks on Mamdani being proof if any more is still needed.

As Jamison Foser says, it is a Republican newspaper, never mind that he Editorial Board is center left. Keep you eyes on the executives and on the Executive Board.
