Healy was formerly deputy editor of the opinion page and he’s now “assistant managing editor for standards and trust.”That’s a laugh. His yellow sheet of biased reporting well precedes his tenure at the Times, where he has been allowed to run amok as completely as Judith self-described “Miss Run Amok” Miller did when she capsized the Times’ credibility with fabricated reports on Iraq prior to the war. Healy has been caught red-handed over and over again, and yet Sulzberger only extends him a wider and wider remit. Healy helped drive Paul Krugman out of the Times, and he’s responsible for defending their white-supremacist reporting on Mamdani.
Dan Froomkin writes “That he is a rising star at the Times – indeed, said to be among the possible successors to [news editor Joe] Kahn tells you everything you need to know about what’s wrong there.”
