Last week, President Trump retched out some of the disgusting and dangerous rhetoric ever transmitted from the Oval Office. It is clear from his own consistent statements and that of his cult that they are going to exploit Kirk’s murder to attempt to overturn democracy in this country.
Sen. Schumer and Rep. Jeffries, leaders-in-name only of the Democratic Party, continue to sit on their hands and keep their lips sealed. Very few Democrats, in fact, have stepped up to call out the threat. Their fear of escalating tensions gives the GOP fascists a clear berth to escalate tensions to the breaking point.
Sen. Murhy, however, just issued a lengthy statement that makes clear what the stakes are: “Trump and his anti-democratic radicals look to be readying a campaign to destroy dissent.”
Governor Newsom, too, has broken free of his five-day torpor:
“Wake up, America. Stephen Miller has already publicly labeled the Democratic Party as a terrorist organization. This isn’t about crime and safety. It’s about dismantling our democratic institutions. We cannot allow acts of political violence to be weaponized and used to threaten tens of millions of Americans.”
