“WHATEVER SEX YOU WERE, SHE WAS THE OPPOSITE”

That would be Tallulah Bankhead, as described by cellist and composer Alan Shiulman. Shulman played in the orchestra of Bankhead’s “Big Show” on radio, and composed “A Laurentian Overture” that he dedicated to her.

His son Jay Shulman shared his Dad’s quip with me recently.

Alan Shulman also collaborated with Tallulah’s friend Joe Bushkin on a song that they called “Portrait of Tallulah.
