KC executive director Rick Grenell has absolutely no idea how to run an opera house or an arts institution, nor any experience doing so. He’s really closer to the loyal apparatchiks that the Soviets would frequently appoint.
Inevitably, the Washington Opera is now leaving the Trump-tainted Kennedy Center.
One example of Grenell’s complete cluelessness and the way it led to the Washington Opera saying No way, is his insistence that all KC productions be “revenue neutral,”–cost no more than ticket sales and contributions take in. Grenell doesn’t know the difference between an opera production and a commercial Broadway show.
