COME BACK OUT TO DEMONSTRATE

today at 1:00 p.m. in front of the landmark Dapalito Recreation Center on Carmine Street, which has served working-class New Yorkers for over a hundred years.

Now NYC wants to tear it down. After having deliberately neglected the building’s maintenance needs for years, City Hall is now lying about whether those issues can be addressed. Supposedly they’re not planning to put up a luxury tower on the site, but we must always remember the City Hall has been captured by NYC developers. Anything asserted by land-use officials in our municipal governance has got to be taken with a grain of salt. I attended a public hearing concerning the recreation center where it was clear that the city is, once again, acting in bad faith.
