WHAT THE LANDMARKS PRESERVATION COMMISSION HAS BEEN REDUCED TO

Village Preservation’s annual report for 2025 documents that: “Under Mayor Adams, new landmark designations have sunk to an all-time low” in the 60-year existence of the LPC. The Commission instead plays bait-and-switch: the few designations now occurring “overwhelmingly eschew endangered sites in need of protection for sites not in danger and often where designation would have limited or no practical effect.”
