AT LEAST IN MANHATTAN, YIMBY IS THE ENEMY OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING

“Yes in My Back Yard” means different things in different locales. Too often it is simply another Trojan horse wearing the silks of “affordable housing.” In Manhattan, we’ve seen the obliteration of zoning regulation and height restrictions lead to the destruction of rent-regulated low-rise housing to make way for mammoth luxury towers.

Village Preservation has a new video series “Cracks in the YIMBY Consensus.” The first segment concerns Why We Can’t Upzone Our Way Out of the Affordability Crisis.
