that they walk around asking themselves “What would Obama do?” In this day and age. That’s the (highly probable) claim made by Perry Bacon in The New Republic, who writes “It’s 100% Right to Admire Obama—and 100% Wrong to Emulate Him.”
What Bacon refers to as the “Obama cult” is a major driver, I guess, for the Democrats making one mistake after another since Obama left office in 2017, up to and including their catastrophic mismanagement of Biden’s and Harris’s campaigns in 2024. And, since then, of course, their miserably weak, scattershot attempt to resist Trump and his fascism. (Yes, getting slightly better as of late.)
Obama himself has been urging the Dems to do some things differently than he did.
