In light of the fact that Obama’s presidency is now virtually over–his war hunger and his timidity before the GOP will see to that–I called Senators Warren and Sanders yesterday (I mean, I called their offices!) and implored them to provide the leadership defaulted on by the White House.
Does the Democratic Party now understand how disastrous its cringe, cower, sit-on-your hands strategy is? Not to mention its preference for speaking in bizarrely detached abstractions and for using GOP framework with which to approach very many issues.
Sanders in his Salon interview with Thomas Frank a few weeks ago offered a plausible explanation for the Dems inability to function: their complacency that an emerging Dem majority was on the horizon and all they had to do was wait for blue skies forever to visit their headquarters.
Have we ever seen a weaker, more deluded political party than today’s Democratic organization?
