I called my Councilperson Corey Johnson today to register my disgust at the proposed torpedoing of the landmarking process in this city via a new bill that would curtail the amount of time the already extremely underfunded Landmarks Preservation Commission can take to consider a designation.
If you want to speed up the designation process–which can and is delayed by owners again and again–fund the Commission properly.
Johnson’s staffer told me that the Councilperson is opposing the law.
