I came in at ten o’clock last night and thought, Oh, I’m going to get some work done.
But then I got sidetracked listening to Marjorie Lawrence, Renata Tebaldi, and Arleen Auger have a go at Handel’s Piangero la sorte mia. Each doing it her own way, of course.
You know, sometimes you can work to music and sometimes it’s too distracting, too compelling. So much for work last night.
I listened to some other things as well–and there are a lot more interpretations of this magnificent aria that I want to sample!
This great music and great singing, so imbued with individuality and humanity, reinforced how ghastly Trump and the GOP’s attack on all this is.
