Adam Johnson at FAIR:
“Five major US newspapers—the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and New York Daily News—offered no opinion space to anyone opposed to Donald Trump’s Thursday night airstrikes. By contrast, the five papers ran a total of 18 op-eds, columns or ‘news analysis’ articles (dressed-up opinion pieces) that either praised the strikes or criticized them for not being harsh enough. . . . ”
And it’s by shutting any other opinion except fake propaganda like this that the “mainstream” media gives Trump grist for his attacks on them.
Let’s remember that twice in the past six weeks Trump has exploited a military crisis and won abject coverage by the “mainstream” media, instantly ready to forgive him anything. But we know he won’t have a drop of gratitude for the fawning coverage unless it continues 24/7.
So when these newspapers compromise with journalistic standards and betray their readers as well as the truth like this, they dig their own graves.
