STICKER SHOCK

Given that the Obamas are pocketing at least $60 million from their book advances, only the most besotted cheerleader could defend Barack’s signing on to Wall Street ringing up $400,000 in order for him to pleasure it from the rostrum.

Those “tough reforms” former spokesperson Schultz claims the ex-Pres leveled on Wall Street?

They include, Les Leopold reminds us at Common Dreams:

“No bankers in jail. No return to Glass Steagall. Banks bigger now than before the crash. Hundreds of billions in bailouts. No elimination of the carried interest loophole that pours billions into the pockets of hedge fund managers. No end to destructive stock buybacks and ultra high frequency trading. And, all the while, income and wealth inequality hit new highs.”

Greed is disgusting, no matter who succumbs to it.

As Leopold notes, Obama’s presidencies were a disaster for the Democratic Party, and his unseemly hopping on the Wall Street gravy train further damages and diminishes the Party’s prospects.

And the fact that corporate-owned publishers are willing to drop this type of loot on the two memoirs shows you what’s happened to our media as well. There’s no way these advances earn out.
