LIKE AN UNSATISFYING DEBAUCH

That leaves you both super-saturated and rapacious.

That was my experience of Costco in Yonkers.  I’d only been to the one in Northern Westchester and that was a decade ago.

Of course I felt really exclusive when they asked for that membership card and I was waved in! I was with someone who’s a member of far more prestigious clubs. I now threatened to out him as a card-carrying Costco clubbie.

Lines for the check-out registers seemed to stretch across county limits. It took so long to process each shopper’s haul it was as though we’d reached a new time zone.

Well, I thought as I surveyed the football-field-sized warehouse, at least we’ll have some suitable shelters when the hurricanes start moving north.

Since everything is sold in such mass quantities, you wind up with more than you need, enticed by the deceptive allure of economies of scale.  The Costco downtown at least makes you pay for your parking, so you might be discouraged from bingeing.

The worst thing was that it too so long and was so exhausting that I just didn’t feel like braving the Stew Leonard’s across the road!

In order for America to heal, will Costco have to close?
