CEO-whisperer Andrew Ross Sorkin was on some cable show relaying that the kingpins of finance are now supporting Harris but wish that she would move to the center. There was, of course, no follow-up, because there almost never is.
News flash: She is at the center. All the policies Biden and she proposed have overwhelming public support, including from Republicans.
Wall Street is way right of center, and its chieftains pump out boilerplate misinformation via mouthpieces like Sorkin. The chieftains are almost entirely consumed with concern for their short-term financial enrichment, no matter how much damage that enrichment does to American society, our environment, the continuance of the human species. They do understand, however, that Trump will destroy the national and international economies if he gets in again, and will severely diminish their wealth, even if he did enact more tax cuts for them.
The corporate media and neoliberal Dems such as the Clintons and Obamas are certainly never going to admit that Trump won, in part, by running to the left of Hillary on economic issues. (remember how Hillary said that combating economic injustice wouldn’t do anything to combat racism and sexism?) Of course, it was all a feint, but then his entire campaign was a sham and it is today.
We’re also not going to hear a lot from the corporate media, Wall st. touts like Sorkin, and the Democratic establishment about how the Dems embrace of neoliberal economic policy harmed the country and harmed the Party.
Biden understood, and charted a new way forward for the Party. Unlike Clinton or Obama, he actually delivered to a large degree on his progressive pledges. The reasons for Biden’s (alleged) unpopularity are the corporate media’s refusal to discuss his achievements and his own refusal to respond to the clamorous defamation of Trump and his camp.
