TRUMPLANDIA IS WHERE INTEGRITY GOES TO DIE

I predict that sniveling Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will be indicted for obstruction of justice–along with AG William Barr.

As Trump finally understood, Rosenstein is totally part of HIS team–not America’s.

TRUMP CAN’T LEARN ANY NEW TRICKS

Disgraced, disbarred attorney  Roy Cohn taught Trump a few rhetorical comebacks and a few strategic plays, and since then he’s just coasted.

Projection is, of course, the principal Trumpian play.

Thus his grotesque blubbering–w/o a speck of evidence, naturally– to Sean Hannity and anyone else who will listen that They are doing to him exactly what he and his goons are in fact doing to America.

DO OLD WHITE MEN W/MONEY —

ever take responsibility for anything?

Joe Biden gave Anita Hill the standard non-apology apology: he’s sorry for what happened to her (displaced passive tense hurrah!).

Not he is sorry for how he behaved, what he did to her, how lamentably wrong his behavior was in 1991.

TRUMP WILL RUN TO HIS VERY OWN SUPREME COURT

What were Obama and the Dems thinking when they allowed Mitch McConnell to mau-mau democracy and steal the Supreme Court?

Trump believes that he’s got the Supreme Court in the bag, and given the utterly corrupt, elitist, anti-democracy majority now installed, he may very well have.

And please, don’t tell me that John Roberts’ feints and fake-outs mean that he’s an institutionalist!

JARED THINKS DEMOCRACY IS BAD FOR AMERICA

Jared Kushner got into Harvard on a special Affirmative Action program designed for the progeny of the ultra-wealthy–and his father only had to pay 2.5 million to get his distinctly mediocre son into the Yard.

Needless to say, Jared couldn’t give a fig for democratic meritocracy, since he  could never have made it if America was actually functioning the way it was supposed to.

Now Jared is preparing double-strength poison injections for the American body politic.

Desperate to stay in the pocket of MBS, he shills for he murderous Arabian despot.

Desperate to hold on to his nepotistically-achieved White House sinecure, Jared insists that his father-in-law should be above the law, and that attempts to ensure that the president is not above the law actually injure the United States.

IN THE BLOOD

My father’s cousin Connie works herself to the bone  every year to host a seder. She likes it if you tell her she’s thin enough to put on pointe shoes.

You see, she took ballet passionately as a girl until she contracted whooping cough and pneumonia, two years in a row. She had to give up ballet for a year, and then her parents wouldn’t let her go back to it. Nor did they want her to study journalism and live in then-bohemian Greenwich Village. Parents were like that in those days. So she became a social worker and then a psychologist.

Kept the physicality going, too, running marathons in her sixties.

Along the way, she went to boarding school at the Walnut Hill Academy in Natick, Mass., which ironically enough is now dedicated to the arts, but wasn’t then.

Now, one of her grandchildren is just as immersed in ballet as she was seventy years ago. And her parents don’t mind at all. Nor does Connie!

OF COURSE TRUMP WAS READING THE NY POST

It is up to Lachlan Murdoch to off-load, shut down, or reform Fox “News” and the New York Post.

Until he does, law suits and economic boycotts are the way to combat these two criminal, seditious organizations.

TRUMP HAS NO FACTS ON HIS SIDE

And so all he and his flacks can do is scream the same lies more and more defiantly and vociferously.

GO TO THE OPERA

Laura Jacobs and I went to hear La Clemenza di Tito at the Met earlier this week. It was actually my second visit this season; I really wanted to go because it’s so rarely performed. I’d last heard it at the Met in 2008 with Susan Graham.

Laura and I both loved the performances and the production and we’ll you another little rap about it early next week–the way we’ve sometimes done in the past.
