We saw the essence of art last Monday in the studios of New York City Ballet at the Rose Building.
For the Balanchine Foundation, Robert Barnett and Barbara Walczak, who danced Symphony in C Third Movement at NYCB during the 1950s, now rehearsed it with NYCB’s Sara Villwock and Spartak Hoxha.
Specific and illuminating information was imparted to the two dancers, who have never danced these roles at NYCB, but I hope they do.
There were many small differences noted between the old and the current choreography.
Ditto with Serenade, with Barnett rehearsed later in the day with NYCB’s Megan Le Crone, Lauren Lovett, Indiana Woodward, Jared Angle, and Aaron Sanz.
Ex-NYCB Barbara Millberg and Janice Cohen also attended and contributed memories.
Leo Gerard writes for the Independent Media Institute at Alternet:
“Americans are not happy, and for good reason: They continue to suffer financial stress caused by decades of flat income. And every time they make the slightest peep of complaint about a system rigged against them, the rich and powerful tell them to shut up because it is all their fault.”
So the idea that we need to give them tax breaks on the tax they’re going to owe is ludicous.
First of all, NYC’s corporate income tax is very low already, which is one reason Amazon wants to set up shop here.
Second, we know that Amazon will fight to the death to pay as little of the income tax it owes as it possibly can.
I got a ridiculous soft-focus Socialist Realism circular from them, telling me once again to call somebody and say that I was on board.
So I called Corey Johnson’s office once more, and said NO WAY.
Isn’t it time that the Obamas cease basking in their promotion and self-promotion tours, and come home to roll up their sleeves and pitch in?
The Republicans paid no political price at all for impeaching Bill Clinton in 1998, frivolous as that prosecution was, and yet Nancy Pelosi still dithers.
And if a majority of American voters aren’t yet in favor, they sure will be after they hear what’s going to come out in the impeachment.
Openly, on a daily basis.
It’s time that the Democrats take off the gloves to save American democracy.
Led by Screaming Lindsay, yesterday’s Senate hearing reminded us that the GOP is closing ranks to protect Trump’s installation of a dictatorship.
The White House, Inc. crime family truly believes that we the people are a bunch of chumps and easy marks. Holding them accountable to the law is “harassment.”
Right.
They’re laughing at us.
Because these people are lapdogs.
Trump has a petulant meltdown because the septuagenarian baby can’t hear anything but praise —
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, when not accusing Democrats of executing babies, complains that her mascara was insulted —
And so the WH poodles cancel the comic monologue this year.
Thank you, Samantha Bee, for staging your own First Amendment jamboree as a counter event.
