ACCURACY IS INCONVENIENT FOR SOME

The Institute for Public Accuracy has a fascinating and utterly damning dissection of the way that the warmongers around Obama, including Kerry, were cheerleading the totally fake claims made by GW Bush concerning Hussein and Iraq.

In other words, “the entire foreign policy hierarchy of both establishment parties is addicted to falsifying for war.”

DAYS OF SHAME

War hunger destroys people’s integrity with a savage bellicosity of its own.

The war hasn’t even started yet, and it’s already expanding, even as we’re told it will be “limited.”  David E. Sanger and Eric Schmitt describe in The New York Times.

Did Kerry just lie to Chris Hayes about the votes he and Hagel cast re: Iraq in 2002?  Yes he did.

Jane Hamsher at firedoglake.com notes that Democratic Reps in swing districts could very well lose their seats if they vote for the war disaster, since the Repubs will of course pin it entirely and successfully on the Dems. And the Dem Reps can hardly rely on the President to take their back  in 2014.  Any illusions on that score would have vanished in 2010.

“A BARRAGE OF GIBBERISH”

That’s what John Kerry offered to Congress this week, and that’s William Rivers Pitt calling it for what it was on truthout.com.

“THE IDIOT PARADE IS IN TOWN”

Jon Stewart is as incredulous as the rest of us how the most moronic, incompetent and dishonest hot air balloons– aka “experts” in “mainstream” media land–get inflated all over again and paraded out on cable TV to comment on Syria.

ONE REASON BOEHNER’S SO EAGER TO GET ON BOARD?

TIGHT DEADLINE

The palpable desperation on the part of much, if not most of the “mainstream”news media–the urgency of coercing the public once again–derives in part from the fact that there is so little time to marshal support.  It’s not like the Iraq war in 2002-2003 where the “rollout,” in Andrew Card’s infamous words, began months before the invasion.

HILLARY COOKS HER OWN GOOSE

Clinton’s rabid attempts to prove her testosterone count was one reason she lost the Democratic nomination in 2008.  Her support for the looming disaster in the Middle East will likely cost her it in 2016.

And I mean, really, not a moment too soon–someone this belligerent, a Democrat whose foreign policy is almost identical to the Republicans–for President?? No.

EMPIRES DECLINE

It’s incredible:  This is a country with millions of hungry, of dispossessed, of un- and under-unemployed, as well as millions of working poor.

And strikes against Syria is what the President and his team want to to go to the mat for?
Heaven help us, they’ve got a “broader strategy” brewing as well.  Read Andrea Germanos’s report at Commodreams.org.

For it’s  incredible the way you can feel from much, if not most of the “mainstream” news media, a palpable desperation to get this country into another war, despite the fact that the public is numb from the two decade-long conflicts in which we are still entrenched.

Once again, as in 2003, McClatchy seems to be something of an exception, daring to mention that “The Obama administration’s public case for attacking Syria is riddled with inconsistencies and hinges mainly on circumstantial evidence, undermining U.S efforts this week to build support at home and abroad for a punitive strike against Bashar Assad’s regime.”

Instructive at this moment would be a look at the 1969 film, Oh! What a Lovely War, which used WWI songs to demonstrate the folly and hypocrisy of WWI–the conflict that probably did more than any other conflict to set the sun on the British empire.

The film lays the whole thing out mercilessly but also entertainingly.

August 1914 seems more and more relevant.

DANCER ACTIVISM IN DANCE MAGAZINE

Are dancers, even ballet dancers, really more ditsed-out about what’s going on in the world than anyone else?  That’s the stereotype, but I’m not sure how true it is.

I know a lot of white-collar people who have no idea what’s really happening out there.

But nobody in his or her right mind would claim that dancers are particularly active or aware politically.

All the more reason that Lauren Kay’s “Creating for a Cause” in the current, September issue of Dance Magazine  is refreshing.
