CRISP AND CLEAR

And stunning–

the newly restored 1930 musical film revue King of Jazz.

The early two strip Technicolor process has never looked more vibrant and almost tactile.

There’s lots of fun dance, including a Highlander number with the girls in pointe shoes but only going up to 3/4 pointe, Scottish style. In “Ragamuffin Romeo” there’s an Apache/grotesque acrobatic/rag doll duet that’s something else.

I saw it at the Museum of Modern Art yesterday —

it’s shown there once more in June.

Don’t miss it!
