Recently Rep. Lieu made a very nice and gallant defense of Michelle Obama’s “When they go low, we go high,” credo while simultaneously asserting the wisdom of his decision to meet Trump’s abusive, unilaterally false and inflammatory tweets with scorn and ridicule.
The point is, the Obamas knew that their success in life was to some degree due to their never appearing like Angry Black People. They assumed-mistakenly–that the GOP would somehow recognize that their stylish adherence to civility and procedural etiquette should be met with equal consideration.
They didn’t. It wasn’t. The Obamas and the Dems were mowed down by the GOP.
And now, as Ted Lieu says, we must fight fire with fire.
