WHAT ARE WE TO DO ?

About a municipal government that keeps pursuing the developers’ agenda at the expense of the city’s and keeps happily scamming the public about it?

Vote them out. Picket every day at the offices of those still serving their terms.

This was on my mind Wednesday night at the Municipal Building, when I attended a public meeting on the “review” of zoning regulations for Soho and Noho.

The usual suspects were there, with big fat condescending smiles on their faces.

It was supposed to start at 6:00 p.m., started almost thirty minutes later, and I had to leave at 7:00 pm. I told the Soho artist resident sitting next to me that I had to go.

“I don’t blame you,” she said.

PETER STRZOK EXONERATES HIMSELF

Strzok is a patriot who knew what a Trump presidency would mean, who privately expressed misgivings about it, and refrained from exploiting his position at the FBI to commit any inappropriate act that would unfairly harm the Trump campaign.

And because of that, as Rachel Maddow was saying recenlty, Strzok  had to be demonized by Trump and his justice-obstructing cabal in the House of Representatives.

TBC con’t

And so years, then decades ensued.

Vicki and I lost touch with each other, but I never forfeited or forgot her journal. It was in storage in my apartment, it was in storage out of my apartment.

Meanwhile, Vicki began to ask herself, Had she really loaned me her journal? No, she finally decided, with the circumspection of maturity, she wouldn’t have. But where was it?

BRIAN KILMEADE WANTS AMERICA AS DUMB & IGNORANT AS POSSIBLE

Kilmeade confesses it absolutely incomprehensible that anyone might consider Beto O’Rourke’s reading books an asset in running for president and/or possibly serving as president.

WHAT’S 33 YEARS?

Way back ca. 1986, Victoria Uris loaned me the diary she’d kept back in 1970, when she was a student at NYU.

Why, you ask?

tbc

Because I was putting together our interviews into first person, dramatic monologue form for Ballet Review, where it ran as “Muse to Paul Taylor” in the fall of 1987.

As the title indicates, it was mostly about her five or six years dancing for Paul Taylor during a crucial period in the very peak years of his creativity.  But it was also about her path to Taylor’s company and coming of age in the counter culture era.

So when Vicki  happened to mention that as she was in the throes of counter-culturing she had kept what she calls a “journal,” and I call a “diary,” I assured her with the bravado of a 26-year-old that probably I should take a look at it.

Strictly for research purposes.

Vicki, with the fearlessness of relative still youth and the fearlessness of a true Paul Taylor performer handed said journal over to me.

As it turned out, an attack of girlish modesty overcame me and I just didn’t think I should delve too deeply into the looseleaf notebook crammed with handwritten what I imagined would be confession. And lots of thumbnail rather Peter Max-ish sketches.

BEN SASSE, ONCE AGAIN, REFUSES TO STAND UP FOR DEMOCDRACY

Do you think Sen. Sasse will  start blubbering again, the way he did when he voted for confirmed perjurer and likely-sex offender Brett Kavanaugh to sit on the SUPREME COURT?

Sen Sasse continues to buckle in every test of patriotism, voting now to grant Herr Trump dictatatorial powers.

But of course, it’s all Nancy Pelosi’s fault.

THEY’RE COMING FOR MORE NYC NEIGHBORHOODS

With the City Planning Commission (the developers’ municipal front group) Manhattan Borough President Brewer and Council Member  Chin making the now-familiar noises about rezoning, (i.e., how do we get more towers built?) a committee to save Soho & Noho has just sprung up.

Make sure to be at the Municipal Building March 20 for the next public meeting.

A declaration: I will not support any mayoral candidate who accepts money from the real estate community.

YOUSEFF MUNAYYER vs. IGNORANT PIG TUCKER CARLSON

Munayyer tweets the ironic disconnect between Iraq’s role as progenitor of Western civilization and Carlson’s disparaging remarks about the country.

It is the media dereregulation practiced by both Democratic and Republican administrations that brought us to the point where Fox was deemed acceptable in the media ecosystem.
