MILLIONAIRE-FUNDED-BY-BILLIONAIRES TUCKER CARLSON

The great Dutch historian Rutger Bregman unflinchingly put Tucker in his place with that succinct and apposite tag. Just perfect.

And therefore, Fox “News” won’t air the interview.

I guess overpaid, over-entitled fake-populist totalitarians UNEQUIVOCALLY believe in free and fair debate.

THE MYTH OF THE LIBERAL MEDIA

As if CNN hadn’t done enough to get Trump elected (for all the gratitude it earned them), they’ve now hired to helm their 2020 election coverage right-wing political operative Sarah Usgur, despite (or because of) the fact that she’s  got no journalistic experience.  Naturally, she’s already tweeting right-wing framing of the issues.

PUSHING BACK AGAINST A STOLEN SUPREME COURT

The current, ultra right-wing Supreme Court majority was cemented illegally by Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump, years after its now-senior members were installed via utterly duplicitous confirmation hearing behavior by Injustices Thomas, Roberts, and Alito.

The majority does not represent the views of America’s majority. It has shown itself repeatedly hostile to American democracy.

For years, Democrats have sat on their hands while the Supreme Court was hijacked.

But presidential aspirant Pete Buttigieg has a plan to fix that.

At Common Dreams, Julia Conley acculturates us to some bold and necessary corrective action.

CELIA GITTELSON, WHAT’S UP?

Gittelson’s 1991 novel Biography is one of the best evocations of the biographical process I’ve ever read.

But no more books published by her since then.

HYSTERICAL GEISHA LINDSAY GRAHAM

I mean, aren’t geishas supposed to be soothing and harmonious?

Sen. Graham, in complete and shrill, shrill, shrill flip-the-script-in-the-service-of-treason mode, wants to investigate McCabe and the FBI for their patriotism. They understood that there was something rotten in Trumpland, and that something had the potential to bring this country down.

So they launched an investigation.

Go figure.

WIDENING GYRE

Amazon’s rout was, I think, one of the early manifestations of the campaign to take back this city that has been launched by the citizens of this city, who have been ripped off for so long by the city using public funds to subsidize private wealth–and ensuring that that wealth goes untaxed.

In no sector has the NYC population been more fleeced than with  housing. In 2017’s How to Kill a City: Gentrification, Inequality, and the Fight for the  Neighborhood, Peter Moscowitz [under 30, no less] describes the way that “Entire neighborhoods are becoming stash pads for the global elite who see real estate as a safer investment than the stock market. . .Absentee home ownership has grown by 70 percent in Manhattan since 2000.”

And, excuse me, didn’t a certain megalomaniacal mayor who keeps threatening to run for president become mayor in 2002?

WHY DO DE BLASIO & CUOMO WANT TO SELL THE STORE TO A TAX DODGER?

Shocking but not surprising to learn that Amazon pays no federal income tax on a multi-billionaire dollar annual profit.

And this is the type of racket that our mayor and governor think should be encouraged.

EXTORTIONATE CAPITALISM TOOK IT ON THE CHIN

Amazon is still going to be increasingly investing in the five boroughs, it’s just that we taxpayers won’t be paying for their gravy train.

And btw, just asking:

what happens to NYC when the tech market it moves heaven an earth to propitiate collapses, as it inevitably will?

IS THE PRESIDENT ON DRUGS — OR SHOULD HE BE PRESCRIBED SOME?

Trump’s unutterably insane presser today would seem to prove that he is out of his mind and/or under the influence of some hallucinogenic.

His confrontational mania as he “engaged” with journalists referencing facts would seem to prove that he must be prescribed psychotropic meds.

ALL THAT TEARING UP, RE STITCHING, TWIDDLING

Fiddling, fidgeting, and tweaking, the hours that Lisa spent sharpening up those Soviet archival photos–

was worth it as we looked around the room and saw how absorbed in Yuri Soloviev’s story the attendees were on Monday night.

Thank you, Lynn Garafola, for inviting us to speak at Columbia’s dance seminar series.
