THROWING GOOD CONTEXT AFTER BAD

The more context you supply to Hatch’s remarks, the more their vileness is affirmed.

HATCH GETS MORE EVIL, CORRUPT AND DISHONEST EVERY YEAR

How many sides of his mouth can he talk out of?

How many vulnerable Americans can he defame?

Good for Joe Scarborough for responding to Hatch’s morally repugnant remarks last week. No way Scarborough took anything out of context. It was all perfectly contextual–every sentence of Hatch’s almost comic duplicity was all of a piece and an equally damning reflection of his twisted, unpatriotic philosophy.

The electricity hadn’t been turned off  of the unverifiable black box voting machines last November before Hatch was insisting that Trump’s agenda would necessitate cuts to social programs.

Hatch is incorrigible.

I am waiting for more Democrats to start confronting Hatch. If he’s young enough to be still perpetuating this malice, he’s young enough to be told off.

AN INCREASINGLY RIGHT-WING NPR

Cowed by the incessant GOP threats to dismantle its funding, NPR lists further and further to the right.

David Michigan at Daily Kos tots up NPR’s overwhelmingly GOP-tilted coverage of the tax scam.

Note to NPR: You can destroy your integrity to propitiate the GOP as much as you want, and they’ll still come after you.

KENTUCKY REP. STICKS IT TO LYIN’ MITCH

As Sen. McConnell continues his shameless lying about the impact of the tax heist he just pushed through in the Senate, Kentucky Congressman John Yamuth begs to differ.

Senate Republicans have, indeed “abdicated any claim they had to being the party of fiscal responsibility. . . . There is nothing remotely responsible about forcing through a … hastily conceived bill to give tax cuts to the already wealthy and multi-national corporations.”

WAY TO GO, HILLARY!

She mentions the poor.

As reported by The Hill, Hillary accurately characterized the GOP tax heist: “This could not be a more blatant and insulting attack on hardworking Americans. . . Now it’s great for Donald Trump and his family, it’s great for the billionaires who support him, but it’s going to make life much harder for middle-class families and poor families.”

WEST VILLAGE BECOMES NO MAN’S LAND

A long-time family friend who’s lived in the East Village almost fifty years made one of her now-rare forays West– and vows never again.

She recalls Bleecker nd West Fourth Streets when they were lined with personalized store windows and independent businesses.

Now it’s a ghost town over there.

WHEN THEY GO LOW, WE GET IN THE TRENCHES

Recently Rep. Lieu  made a very nice and gallant defense of Michelle Obama’s “When they go low, we go high,” credo while simultaneously asserting the wisdom of his decision to meet Trump’s abusive, unilaterally false and inflammatory tweets with scorn and ridicule.

The point is, the Obamas knew that their success in life was to some degree due to their never appearing like Angry Black People. They assumed-mistakenly–that the GOP would somehow recognize that their stylish adherence to civility and procedural etiquette should be met with equal consideration.

They didn’t. It wasn’t.  The Obamas and the Dems were mowed down by the GOP.

And now, as Ted Lieu says, we must fight fire with fire.
