In The New Republic, Parker Molloy demonstrates exactly how they should have known. Media turned a blind eye to the mountainous evidence that Trump and Project 2025 were joined at the hip, deciding instead to legitimize Trump’s ludicrous denials.
“When Trump lied about his involvement with Project 2025, that lie was treated as a fact that needed to be carefully weighed.” This was after Trump’s full-blown embrace of the Heritage Foundation and Project 205 in 2022. “He called it ‘our movement.’ He said Heritage would provide the details. He flew on a private plane with the guy running the operation and gave a speech praising the whole endeavor. . .
“The video of this speech was available online. . .Journalists could watch it anytime they wanted. When Trump later claimed he knew ‘nothing’ about Project 2025 and had ‘no idea’ who was behind it, there was readily available footage of him describing the project as the blueprint for ‘exactly what our movement will do.'”
Instead, the corporate “news” media treated Trump’s denials as if they were credible.
The corporate consultants who continue to control the Democrats’ messaging–even after they engineered the loses of 2024–don’t think that the devastation wrought by the climate crisis is worthy of being addressed by the party–even as the American public watches the country flood and burn.
Biden and his administration completely failed to explain to the American public what were the benefits, economic as well as to public health of his addressing the climate crisis. The public was just supposed to understand, while fossil fueled Republicans continued their high-decibel insistence that the climate crisis is a hoax. Now, evil, greed-sickened fanatics like Russell Vought have succeeded in succeeding in overturning everything Biden had attempted to do. And Democrats continue largely to stay silent.
