The Democrats have been running scared on environmental issues, particularly since the 2024 election fiasco. The moron “autopsy” commissioned by the DNC, (which didn’t say a word about the Dems inability to make affordability an issue in the campaign) said that voters didn’t understand why environmental initiatives were benefiting them. The Democrats responsibility, then, is to explain those benefits–not to ignore them altogether.
Then the party is still in the thrall of has-been Democratic consultants like David Axelrod, who counseled the Dems– once the Democratic establishment had helped engineer Trump’s return to office–not to “swing at every pitch,” and James Carville who told them to (continue) to “roll over and play dead.”
As Trump steers America into the abyss, environmental messaging should be increasingly easy, even for the Democrats: a simple message of survival. “Trump is destroying your children’s futures.”
