As we know, Scalia’s originalism was just a cover to let him justify whatever politically-based decisions he wanted to hand down.

But across-the-board, originalism is noting but a hoax anyway.

The extraordinary phlegmatic weakness of Obama and his caucus allowed Scalia’s Supreme Court seat to be stolen, as they allowed a backlog of judicial vacancies to pile up. Now the Federalist Society extremists are licking their chops.

It looks as if the Democrats may once again turn tail, once again mewling out keep-your-powder-dry defeatism. All I can say is, no Democratic Senator who votes for Gorsuch will avoid a primary challenger.

And let the GOP abolish the filibuster–let them show the country what they are.

If you want to finally get with the program and repudiate the catastrophic neoliberalism that has spelled doom for the Democratic Party, that’s another thing.

But no more elections.

Along with Trump and most of the GOP caucus.

Senator Inhofe is destroying the future of American (as well as global) children with his rabid attacks on environmental protections.

Even if he remains sufficiently compos mentis to know that he is lying constantly, what sane human would work with such ferocity to end his own species?

Trump is on board with the GOP’s gutting of Medicaid, one of the endless betrayals of his campaign pledges. He’s now supporting the House Feudal Servitude Caucus’ insistence that health care for the poor be further rationed by  a draconic demand that those who have most trouble finding jobs be punished for their travails

Rep. Jodey Arrington, a government parasite who is receiving salary from the U.S. citizenry in order to destroy it, deserves widespread condemnation for his abhorrent statement that further clobbering the poor will “prevent idleness.”

That way, Arrington claims, would make Medicaid “not so much of a seductive entitlement.”

Arrington is someone who fleeces the U.S. every day, making his entire existence a seductive entitlement.

Naturally enough, when the constituents paying Arrington demanded a town hall last month, he failed to how up. How seductive is that?

In terms of self-serving, rapacious hypocrites, he’ll give any politician on either side of the pond a run for their money–and he’ll pocket their money as well.

Remember that this cash vacuum was one of the most egregious and destructive prophets of sadistic austerity ever to blight Great Britain–he and the used Bentley salesman shacked UK public policy for years into the future.

So his latest colossal flouting of propriety and ethics at the Evening Standard is just a big, fat cherry on top.

After visiting Washington, D.C., Robert Reich notes, among other things, that:

“Republican pundits think Bannon is even more unhinged than Trump, seeking to destroy democracy as we’ve known it.”

Yes, this actually happened.

Malevolent cretin Mulvaney said about climate change:

“We’re not spending money on that anymore. We consider that to be a waste of your money.”

The more ingratiating they become.

After the Republicans stole this Supreme Court seat, the Dems are providing bi-artisan cover to Gorsuch at his confirmation hearing, where Senator Bennett will introduce him.

It is time for primary season to commence.

This is the Trump ripple effect.

Former British finance minister George Osborne–you know, the one who shoveled so much slush to the already-flush British upper classes–has been named Evening Standard editor while at the same time continuing government “service” as a member of Parliament.

Naturally, as the Guardian points out, Osborne “has no significant journalistic experience.”

Another triple byline: Esther Addley, Anushka Athana, and Lisa O’Carroll.

“The appointment was greeted by staff with a mixture of ‘shock, incredulity and hilarity,’ an insider said. ‘It’s slowly sinking in, the madness of it all, with some saying it may not be so mad after all.’ Another said Osborne’s expectation that he could do the job and continue as an MP ‘just shows the contempt he has for the newspaper, that he thinks being an editor is a part-time basis, that’s the real scandal.’ An executive at the paper described the appointment as ‘hilarious.'”

One thing Osborne has always been to do skillfully: grift for himself.
